The NSW BTRC within the Sydney Medical School, University of Sydney aims to provide brain and spinal cord tissue specimens for merit-based research. The Director of the NSW BTRC is an experienced academic appointed by the University of Sydney who reports to the Dean of Medicine regarding operations and to a Management Committee regarding the activities, management and performance of the NSW BTRC. The Director oversees all staff and operations. The NSW BTRC has six staff members, including a Deputy Director, Manager and scientific staff.
The NSW BTRC operates in collaboration with the National Institute of Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism (NIAAA) in the USA. It has a management committee comprised of representatives from the Sydney Medical School and Department of Forensic Medicine.
